Colby Young Memorial Fund
The Colby Young Memorial Fund supports both the expansion of tennis locally through the Marty Henessey Foundation and the support of teens and young adults through The Inspiring Children Foundation.
Colby was a student of tennis. Though he started learning tennis as a pre-teen and played intramural tennis competitively in college, it was after he took up tennis again in Las Vegas that he found his tennis tribe. He started in singles, but found doubles taught him the most and improved his game. Colby learned from both his coaches and teammates as well as his opponents. His growth mindset pushed him to seek other players who would challenge him and thereby invest in his game. He enjoyed watching players at all levels, both in person and on television.
Tennis for him was “socializing with exercise,” making it a self-care activity that also served as a stress reliever. Colby believed that anyone, at any age, would benefit from playing tennis as a lifelong sport.
He had a particular interest in programs supporting teens and young adults. Colby recognized the overwhelming assault on self-image and mental health. There are too many messages and voices tearing them down and not enough building them up.
Colby loved tennis, watching, playing it, how it brought people together, and the opportunities it provided. And he loved anything that supports people where they are and helps them reach their goals and potential. Thank you for contributing in his honor and extending compassion for causes important to him.
